This Week’s Updates: Video Grading, D2L Admins, Fresh UI, and more

New features for video grading, D2L admins, refreshed UI elements, and coming with archiving courses.

How are you doing from the holiday hangover? TimelyGrader’s first month of 2026 is already getting some new updates!

What’s new this Friday, Jan 16th?

Video grading is out!

Yes, really! You can now review and grade student video submissions the same way you grade written assignments, without interrupt the original grading workflow! As AI becomes more included in education, traditional essays aren’t the only way students to show what they know. Currently we support English speaking videos only, but we will plan to expand this in the future.

Refreshed user interface (UI) elements

We’ve updated several UI elements to look more refreshing and approachable. You’ll notice softer, more rounded designs that feel more flexible than the old boxy style. The goal is to make grading feel just a little less exhausting and a lot more pleasant for you.

Admin dashboard with administrator role rolled out for D2L!

(yes…we know…it’s forcefully rhymed)

The admin dashboard and administrator role are now live on D2L, making it easier for faculty members and instructional designers to manage courses from one centralized place. The dashboard now smartly handles foldered sub-accounts, preventing common issues and delivering faster load times with fewer crashes, especially for our large institutional partners.

Archiving courses coming soon

We’ve heard your struggle of separating current courses from older ones. That’s why we’re working on course archiving, so you’ll be able to easily organize and separate active and past courses right within the Course Lobby.

We hope you will enjoy these updates. As always, your feedback helps us to improve!
